We did it! Our bill (SB 6286) to extend assault benefits for corrections staff was exec'd out of the Senate Law and Justice Committee last night.

I wanted to share with you some fantastic news. Yesterday afternoon, after conversations with the Governor’s office and OFM, I signed a new MOU that successfully secures interest arbitration rights for Teamster correctional employees for the remainder of the 2015-2017 contract cycle.

The power of Teamster correctional employees was on full display in Olympia today. Over 150 members and their families, along with Teamster staff and members from other industries, met with dozens of legislators as a part of our DOC Lobby Day.

Tomorrow is an exciting day – it’s our DOC Lobby Day. Over 200 DOC members, other Teamsters, and Local 117 staff will be in Olympia talking with legislators about the critical issues facing our state’s correctional employees.

We're gearing up for our DOC Lobby Day on January 26 - it's going to be a great event! This is our opportunity to meet with legislators to talk about important issues facing our state's correctional employees, who put their lives on the line to protect the public.
