Teamsters 117 launched its new website in August. The new site is designed to provide information and resources to Local 117 members, integrate with new social media tools, and engage members to take legislative and political action so that we can build union power and best fight to protect the rights of working families.
As we continue to build the new site, please share your impressions and/or suggestions so that we can create a site that best reflects your needs as a member of the Union. Thank you for your participation!
Teamsters laced up their boots on Saturday for the fourth annual Local 117 Soccer Tournament, held at the Tukwila Community Center.
There were players from six teams that participated in the event, including members from the grocery, dairy, steel, maritime, and taxi industries. In all, about 100 members and their families were on hand to enjoy the festivities.
Come out to the event and give back to your community.
We've all heard it before, maybe at a family gathering or at a get-together with friends: "Unions were important at one time, but we don't need them anymore."
How do we, as union members, respond in that situation? Do we uncomfortably look the other way, or do we speak up, and rise in defense of working people?
Your Local Union is excited to announce the launch of our new website. The site went live on Thursday, August 8. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the features of the new site.
Tuesday night was an exciting night for Teamsters 117-endorsed candidates. In all but one of the races, the folks we supported made it through the primary and are moving on to the general election in November.
Brothers and Sisters:

In light of the recent acquittal of George Zimmerman, for the February 26, 2012 slaying of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a national dialogue has been rekindled regarding social justice, racial inequality, and Stand Your Ground laws.
Our collective hearts go out to the Martin/Fulton family, and all other families who have lost loved ones to senseless violence.
