Tuesday night was an exciting night for Teamsters 117-endorsed candidates. In all but one of the races, the folks we supported made it through the primary and are moving on to the general election in November.

In the most high profile race of the night, your Union's dual-endorsed candidates, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and State Senator Ed Murray, will face off against one another for Seattle Mayor.

We won important city council and mayoral primaries in SeaTac, Burien, Auburn and Seattle, and our endorsements in the King County Executive and Port of Seattle races were both spot on.

The one tough spot for the night was in Federal Way, where we supported fellow Teamster Anthony Murrietta. Anthony’s ground game was strong, but it wasn’t enough to compete against two well-funded opponents.

We want to congratulate all of the candidates who put their names forward to run, and thank all of the members who turned in their ballots in the primary.  Thanks also to our wonderful volunteers who spent many hours phonebanking and talking to community members on the doors.

Now it's on to the general election where we will fight hard to elect candidates who will stand up in support of working families!
