At our February membership meeting, Teamsters 117 members came together for an inspiring community-building activity. Dozens of members and staff helped assemble care kits for unhoused folks in our community.

The kits included things like toiletries, personal hygiene products, snacks, hand warmers, and winter socks – daily essentials that we will be distributing to community members who will put them to good use.

This kind of activity is right in line with the mission of Teamsters 117. We are a Union that not only builds power among working people; we also strive to lift up our communities through our ingenuity, compassion, and solidarity.

In 2024, our Union will be organizing lots of opportunities for you to join in on these kinds of community-building activities and events. We will be hosting a Solidarity Golf Tournament to raise funds for our scholarships so that Teamster members and their children can further their education. We will work to brighten the lives of our children through our Back-To-School and Holiday Toy Drives. We will continue to grow and ignite the labor movement through the work of our powerful Womxn’s Committee.

You can view all of this year’s community events on our Union’s calendar here. I encourage you to choose one or more that interest you and to participate. Be sure to invite one of your co-workers to join in!

Thanks to all of you for making Teamsters 117 a powerhouse in the Pacific Northwest. As we continue to build a stronger Union, let’s not let our differences divide us. When we stay united in our mission to improve lives and lift up our communities, there’s no stopping what we can accomplish.

In Solidarity,
