Local 117 hosts events throughout the year designed to promote union solidarity, workers' rights, and community action. For years, Local 117 has organized steward trainings, educational seminars, and an annual blood drive. You can access the DOC CALENDAR here.
This is a training designed for newly-elected Shop Stewards. We will be covering contract enforcement, grievance handling, political action, organizing, and member mobilization, among other topics.
New Shop Stewards should receive an invitation to this training. If you have questions, please talk to your Union Representative.
Our Local 117 Executive Board meets on a monthly basis to review Local Union finances and to discuss the direction of the organization.
If you would like more information about the work of our E-Board, please contact Jennifer Shaw at 206-441-4860.
Join us on December 19 as hundreds of Local 117 members gather together at the union hall in Tukwila for solidarity and our annual raffle drawing.
Dozens of prizes are awarded each year, including electronics, power tools, bottles of wine, gift cards, televisions sets, and best of all, NUTS! All of the gifts are purchased from companies with whom Local 117 has a bargaining relationship.
If you work graveyard and are unable to attend the meeting, be sure to stop by the hall during the day on Thursday for some cookies and holiday cheer and to put your name in for the raffle.
All members are welcome!
