Teamsters Local 117 has achieved a fully-recommended tentative agreement with Fred Meyer over a contract involving 388 warehouse workers employed at the company’s grocery distribution center in Puyallup.  The Union and the Company reached the agreement late Monday night with the assistance of a federal mediator.

A contract ratification vote will be held for Fred Meyer Teamsters at 9 A.M. or 7 P.M. this Saturday, September 27 at Teamsters Local 313 in Tacoma (220 S. 27th St.).  The Union bargaining committee will unanimously recommend that the membership approve the settlement.

Central issues for the Union in bargaining were maintaining affordable health care for its members and providing protections against subcontracting.

Teamsters at Fred Meyer have been working without a contract for over five weeks.  Last weekend, the workers and their allies leafleted Fred Meyer and QFC stores in four states to educate consumers and raise community awareness about their concerns.
