MONROE CORRECTIONAL COMPLEX
  • Our Holiday Membership Meetings for Teamsters at MCC were held on November 19. We had good participation and excellent discussion about upcoming Lobby Day in January and the coming legislative session.
  • We will be holding our 2016 Lobby Day event for DOC Teamsters on Tuesday, January 26. We will be meeting with legislators to discuss several issues, including extending assault benefits for WA State correctional employees. You can register for this event here.
  • In November, Representative Smith conducted Union presentations for the Southwest Region and MCC Core groups.
  • In November, we filed a Demand to Bargain over changes to the Closed Loop Food Service.
  • In November, we held a Demand to Bargain for the group C assignment pay for the LPNs and Psych 4s at MCC. In attendance were LPN2s Emily Speed and Thad Hagar and Psych 4 Dr. Robert Carsrud
  • We have filed four new grievances on behalf of members at MCC.
  • On December 15, we had an LMCC to discuss the Department’s Use of Force Policy, including Deadly Use of Force.
WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • Our Holiday Membership Meetings for Teamsters at WCC were held on December 9. We had good attendance and engaging discussions over a variety of issues at the meetings.
  • We will be holding our 2016 Lobby Day event for DOC Teamsters on Tuesday, January 26. We will be meeting with legislators to discuss several issues, including extending assault benefits for WA State correctional employees. You can register for this event here.
  • We are currently processing a grievance involving shift exchanges for COs. The grievance has been moved to arbitration.
  • We held Shop Steward elections, which resulted in 10 Shop Stewards at the facility. Stewards will assume their positions effective January 1.
  • On December 15, we had an LMCC to discuss the Department’s Use of Force Policy, including Deadly Use of Force. 
MISSION CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN
  • Our Holiday Membership Meetings for Teamsters at MCCCW were held on November 18.

LARCH CORRECTIONS CENTER

  • Representative Boad is working to get the LSAC committee up and running.
  • Representative Boad is in the process of scheduling an LMCC to discuss a variety of issues at the facility.

STAFFORD CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • Our Holiday Membership Meetings for Teamsters at SCCC was held on December 1.

  • Shop Stewards had a productive meeting with the Superintendent at SCCC to discuss a variety of issues.
  • We filed a grievance over improper letter of expectation. The Grievance Review Panel was held on November 25.
  • We held a training for Shop Stewards at the facility on December 7.  Michelle Woodrow and Dustin Lambro facilitated the training.
  • Our newly-elected Shop Stewards will start effective January 1.
  • On December 15, we had an LMCC to discuss the Department’s Use of Force Policy, including Deadly Use of Force.
CLALLAM BAY CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • We held a meeting for Shop Stewards at the facility on November 30.

  • On November 2, we filed a grievance involving improper bid post removal.
  • On December 15, we had an LMCC to discuss the Department’s Use of Force Policy, including Deadly Use of Force.
WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN

OLYMPIC CORRECTIONS CENTER

  • Our Holiday Membership Meetings for Teamsters at OCC were held on December 9.
  • We achieved a resolution with the Department over the 17-hour shift issue on daylight savings time.  The State has agreed to give all employees who worked more than 16 hours on daylight savings time 3 hours of comp time.

CEDAR CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER

  • We met with the State to discuss our Demand to Bargain over changes in working conditions involving offender property.  We will be meeting again in January to review implementation of the changes.
