Rally-in-Olympia---photo.jpgThe legislature has put us one step closer to a government shutdown.

Today layoff notices are being sent out to approximately 2,800 WA State corrections employees.

This is unacceptable. The legislature has had ample time to work out a budget.

The House has voted to fund our contract unconditionally, but the Senate has held up negotiations and used our contract as a bargaining chip.

With only 7 days to go, the Senate needs to agree to a budget that fully funds our contract immediately – no strings attached.

We believe that a fair budget deal can still be reached, but if it can’t, we're ready.  That’s why we’ve organized a Rally in Olympia on July 1. We’re calling on all DOC staff, particularly those who receive a layoff notice, to attend the rally.

We also need to call our legislators at 1-800-562-6000 and let them know the dangers associated with mass layoffs at the DOC. Tell them that the safety of corrections employees is at risk!

Sign up to attend the rally. And call your legislators call now!
