Over the years, workers at Local 117 have been forced to strike at places like Waste Management, Coke, UNFI, Davis Wire, Seattle Cold Storage, and others.

Access to unemployment insurance would have eased some of the economic hardship our members faced while on strike. It would have also pressured their employers to bargain in good faith and abide by federal labor law during negotiations.

A bill before the WA State Legislature (SB 5041) would give workers access to unemployment insurance benefits if they are out on strike for more than two weeks. This will help level the playing field in negotiations and discourage employers from threatening workers with financial hardship as a bargaining strategy.

ACT NOW TO SUPPORT STRIKING WORKERS

Email your State Representatives and urge them to level the playing field in negotiations by passing ESSB 5041. Please act now - the bill will be up for a vote in the House of Representatives soon.

Email your Legislators!

Big business knows this bill will increase worker power at the negotiating table, and they are pulling out all the stops to try to kill it. Email your legislators now and tell them to pass SB 5041.

Thank you for supporting striking workers!
