Our interest arbitration hearing for members at the Department of Corrections starts today and will run for the rest of the week.

The hearing will be held in Tacoma; Howell Lankford will serve as the arbitrator. Spencer Thal, our Union's General Counsel, will present the case for the Union.

The arbitrator's job will be to resolve the core economic items in our DOC contract, which we were unable to find agreement on with the State in the normal course of contract negotiations and mediation.

Throughout the hearing, we will make an effort to keep you informed with regular updates.

You can learn more about the interest arbitration process on our FAQ page. For a final bargaining update, click here.

You can also view a short video update from Michelle Woodrow, our Director of Corrections and Law Enforcement, who discusses the final outcomes from bargaining.
