On Wednesday, March 23 drivers at Care Transit voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 117. The 13 drivers stood together to win a voice at work and improve their working conditions.

“I am happy that we won our union.  I’m proud to join my coworkers in standing up for our rights,” said driver Noureddine Lakhdar after the votes were tallied.

Care Transit provides Metro ACCESS paratransit bus service for people with disabilities throughout King County, as a subcontractor for Transdev. Care Transit drivers now join with more than 260 Transdev drivers who voted to join Local 117 last December.

The win for workers at Care Transit is one of string of Local 117 organizing victories over the last two years. Since 2014, workers at Animal Supply, Americold, Impark, ICS, Mutual Materials, Uber, Lyft, Google, Facebook, the City of Black Diamond, and others have come together to fight for a voice in the workplace.

Congratulations to Care Transit drivers - new members of Teamsters 117. Let's welcome them to our union!
