DOC Officers and Sergeants have voted to approve the proposed MOU that authorizes a 60-calendar day pilot program that   limits the amount of mandatory overtime DOC can assign to no more than 8 hours a week.

The results of the vote are as follows:

  • 52.1% voted YES to approve the agreement
  • 47.9% voted NO to oppose the agreement

Clearly, this is an important issue to the membership. We more than doubled the traditional voter turnout with over 55% casting a vote. As we all respect the results of the membership vote approving this pilot program, we must also respect that the approval was marginal with many members voicing concerns and disapproval. the. Regardless of where you land on the topic it is important to remember that this is a pilot program that will remain in effect for 60 calendar days after signature. During this time, we will be monitoring the effects and soliciting your feedback on whether to continue or terminate the program at the end of the 60-calendar day period.

It is also important to remember that all other articles of your contract will remain in effect. All exemptions for voluntary or mandatory overtime will continue to apply.

The terms of the MOU will take effect 14 days after both parties have signed the agreement. As soon as the terms take effect, we will let you know.
