Our Lobby Day for DOC Teamsters is fast approaching!

This is one of our Union's most important events of the year. It is a time when DOC Teamsters can flex their political muscle and educate legislators on the challenges of working in the State prison system.

DOC LOBBY DAY DETAILS

DOC Teamsters, their families, and other Local 117 members will be meeting for dinner in Olympia at 6:30 p.m. on February 7 (location TBD)*. The next morning, we'll have a short training and breakfast and then hit the hill for our Lobby Day appointments. Transportation will be provided for members traveling from Eastern Washington and Monroe on February 7. More details are available here.

NOTE*: We are still working to finalize hotel rooms and a training venue now that the Olympia Hotel at Capitol Lake is no longer available due to a change of ownership. Check back here soon for more info. 

OUR MEETINGS WITH LEGISLATORS

In our meetings with legislators, we will be focusing on a number of issues critical to DOC Teamsters including safety and security concerns, staffing levels and safety as they relate to solitary confinement proposals, improvements to our retirement benefit, and more. A full legislative agenda will be available in advance of the event.

It's hard to emphasize enough how important it is for us as a Union to show up for DOC Lobby Day. Our face-to-face meetings with legislators have led to extraordinary legislative wins for DOC Teamsters like the passing of interest arbitration. If you only attend one Union event all year, make it our DOC Lobby Day.

Non-DOC Teamsters are encouraged to join their DOC Sisters and Brothers at this event! There will also be an opportunity for us to lobby our legislators on issues impacting Teamsters in the private sector at the WSLC Lobby Day on February 1.
