Local 117 was first chartered by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in 1936 and has grown to be the third largest Teamsters Local Union in the United States.
The strength of our union is our membership. The active participation of Local 117 members is instrumental in helping to achieve industry-leading contracts that ensure that your wages, benefits, and working conditions are protected.
Our Mission: We build unity and power for all working people to improve lives and lift up our communities. This is our Union.
Looking Ahead: Working families face many challenges over the the next several years, from attacks on collective bargaining, right-to-work (for less) laws, automation, legal and legislative threats, and the insecure employment of the on-demand economy.
Despite these threats, we believe workers who chose to come together can improve their lives and lift up communities. Our vision for the future is simple: We envision a world where workers are united for social, political, and economic justice and our collective voice is loud.
