Let's welcome Ryan Jarman, a new Business Representative at Teamsters 117! 

Ryan brings a wealth of life experiences to his position at your Local Union. He became a Teamster in 2007 when he went to work at the Golden State Foods grocery distribution center in Sumner. Prior to his Teamster job, Ryan spent six years in the military. He is also a small business owner in Lacey, where he and his wife run a small dance studio.

In 2014, Ryan was elected as a Local 117 Shop Steward. In his capacity as a Steward, Ryan has participated in contract negotiations, handled grievances, and resolved many issues informally.

Through his membership in the Teamsters Pacific Northwest Black Caucus, he has also organized several Teamster events, including the Blood Drive and Back-To-School Drive and the Teamsters Casino Night.

Ryan began his job at the Local on February 2, 2015. In talking about the Union, he said:

“I see my role as engaging members and building solidarity and union power so that we can level the playing field and resolve issues in the workplace.”
