It's been five years since the tragic murder of Officer Jayme Biendl at the Monroe Correctional Complex.
We will always remember our fallen Sister who paid the ultimate sacrifice for serving and protecting our communities.
The brutal assault of Officer Terry Breedlove on Monday at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center remind us again how dangerous an occupation it is to work in the field of corrections.
Our hearts go out to Jayme's family, and to Officer Breedlove and his family. We wish him a speedy recover and we honor their sacrifice.
Jayme is gone, but not forgotten. She will always be in our hearts, and remind us of her service and sacrifice, and the need to make staff safety the number one priority in our state's prisons.
The annual Biendl Memorial 5k Walk/Run will take place this Sunday, January 31 at 10 a.m. in Sky River Park in Monroe.
