Brothers and Sisters:
I’m a Teamster lab technician, and I work in Darigold’s corporate lab in Tukwila. It’s my job to test the milk and other dairy products your family enjoys to make sure that they are healthy and safe.
But Darigold is not valuing my work. Instead the company is engaging in a campaign of intimidation directed at those of us who have worked so hard to make the company profitable.
That’s why workers like me are starting to band together. Last Saturday, over a hundred of us met to form a new coalition that will work in solidarity with Teamsters fighting for justice at Darigold.
It’s called the Farm to Family coalition and it brings together farm workers, production workers, grocery distribution workers, lab technicians, and grocery clerks.
All of us do important work, and we all share the same values: food safety, workplace justice, fair labor standards, and respect for the environment.
Over the last two weekends, Teamsters at Darigold along with our brothers and sisters at the United Farm Workers and UFCW, leafleted thousands of shoppers in Washington, Oregon, and California to inform them of Darigold’s unjust and unlawful practices across the food supply chain.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the leafleting actions and for the support and solidarity of the nearly three thousand community members who have signed our online petition. Together we will compel Darigold to do the right thing and treat all of its workers, from farm to family, with dignity and respect.
In Solidarity,
Kevin Wahlberg
Darigold Lab Technician
