At Teamsters 117, we honor the life of our fallen Sister, Jayme Biendl, the Teamsters Corrections Officer who was killed in the line of duty at the Monroe Correctional Complex in 2011. Jayme lives on in our hearts, reminding us of the courage, compassion, and dedicated service it takes to do corrections work. The values she embodied inspire and serve as an example for all of us.

In remembrance of Jayme, our Teamsters 117 Womxn's Committee, established the Jayme Biendl Working Womxn Scholarship in 2019. The scholarship is intended to further the education of working womxn through vocational, college, or training programs. It was funded in part by proceeds from the Jayme Biendl 10-Year Anniversary Challenge Coin, created in Jayme's honor by a retired member of Teamsters 117.

The Jayme Biendl Working Womxn Scholarship is open to Teamsters 117 womxn and their dependents. Womxn dependents of any Teamster member also qualify.

The deadline for submitting applications for the 2021 scholarship is fast approaching! Applications must be submitted to the office of Teamsters 117 by 5:00pm on Monday, May 31, 2021. To apply, please click on the link below.
