Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual peanut butter drive. This year, we collected over 2,000 jars from members of Local 117!

This week is National Nurses Week, a time to pay tribute to the exceptional work of our members at the Washington State Nurses Association and at the Department of Corrections.

With a few notable exceptions, most of us will never set foot inside a prison. Of those who do, most are perpetrators of serious crimes paying their debt to society.

As you know, a group called the “Freedom Foundation” filed a Public Records Act request to obtain personal, sensitive information--like your full name and date of birth--from the State.

A room in the King Street building was buzzing yesterday, as Teamsters at King County met to share ideas and voice their concerns about the workplace as a part of our Every Voice Counts project.

It was solidarity building at its finest. Three DOC members on our Union team headed out after bargaining on Tuesday to visit other Local 117 Teamsters working in our grocery warehouses.

Our first bargaining session with the State over your 2017-2019 collective bargaining agreement took place on Tuesday, April 26, at your Teamsters Headquarters in Tukwila.

On Monday, April 25, our King County Coalition of Unions bargaining team met with the employer to continue total compensation contract negotiations for the 2017-2018 biennium.
