MONROE CORRECTIONAL COMPLEX
  • There are currently 5 open demands to bargain and 13 open grievances at the facility.
  • On 8/20, the Union filed a grievance over overtime denial.
  • Your Union filed a demand to bargain over issues in Health Services at MCC; bargaining is scheduled for 10/24.
  • Your Union filed a demand to bargain over Specialized Unit staffing policies; we will be back at the table on 10/15; Officers Dave Roberts, Shane Zey, and Lance Rogers will participate in the bargaining along with Business Representative Mark Manning.
  • Business Representatives Mark Manning and Rich Groff will be bargaining with the Department over CI position abolishment on 11/4.
  • Union members will be phonebanking on 10/8 and 10/9 in support of Sgt. Brad Waddell for Monroe City Council and Sgt Michael Boe for Lake Stevens City Council.  Contact Political Action Coordinator Dustin Lambro at 206-794-2606 if you are able to participate.

WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • Your Director of Corrections & Law Enforcement Michelle Woodrow and DOC Coordinator Sarena Davis have been bargaining over the Closed Loop Food Service program being implemented by CI.  Bargaining is taking place at OFM in Olympia.  We are close to reaching an agreement regarding AC Cooks transitioning to CI.  Stay posted.
  • We are conducting LMCCs with management over the implementation of Evergreen offenders performing grounds work at Shelton.  We are scheduled to meet with the Department on 10/15.
  • Your Union will be bargaining with the State over the opening of a Special Needs unit in Cedar Hall.  Bargaining with the Department will commence sometime in October.
  • Your Union filed a demand to bargain over IMU staff issuing out store to offenders instead of CI.  Bargaining will be forthcoming.

MISSION CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN
  • Eleanor Vernell will be the new Superintendent at Mission Creek as of 10/1.
  • Your Union will be meeting with the Department in the near future to discuss Classification Counselor workloads and new programs. 
  • Your Union will be meeting with MCCCW management to discuss the new graveyard custody position.
LARCH CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • Stefani Meusborn-Marsh will be the new Superintendent at Larch as of 10/1.
  • Your Union has scheduled a LMCC for 10/1.
  • Your Director of Corrections & Law Enforcement Michelle Woodrow met with LCC Shop Stewards on 9/25 to discuss various issues at the facility.
  • Your Union has a grievance resolution panel scheduled for 10/8
  • We recently submitted new names for the LSAC.
  • We will be posting for new Shop Stewards in October in line with the new contract cycle.  
STAFFORD CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • On 8/29, your Union filed a grievance over violation of the dignity and respect clause of the contract.
  • Your Union filed a demand to bargain over CIS4 positions and have completed one bargaining session with the Department.  Bargaining is ongoing. 
  • Your Union has filed a demand to bargain over the Veteran’s Pod and Safe Space.  The Department is proposing make a living unit with veteran offenders exclusively; your Union is concerned about the safety implications of this decision. We are working to get bargaining dates.
  • We will be posting for new Shop Stewards in October in line with the new contract cycle. 
CLALLAM BAY CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • We have scheduled an LMCC for 9/25.  We plan to discuss decommissioning the Stentofon system, contract interpretation issues, overtime issues, bid pull violations, polo shirts for IMU staff, etc.
  • We currently have no active demands to bargain at the facility.
  • There was a multi-offender fight on 9/9 in the gym.  No members were injured in the incident.  Members did an outstanding job in getting the situation under control.
  • We will be posting for new Shop Stewards in October in line with the new contract cycle.
WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN
  • We had an LMCC on 9/23. There was a lot of discussion in regards to roster errors among other issues.
  • Your Union has an LMCC with classification counselors scheduled for mid-October to discuss increased workloads and new programs.
  • We would like to welcome three newly-elected Shop Stewards:  Officer Tyrell Baker, Officer Daniel Musson, and Sgt. Mike Delgado
  • We will be posting for new Shop Stewards in October in line with the new contract cycle.
OLYMPIC CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • One grievance over improper discipline is pending.
  • We have a LMCC scheduled for October 1.  We will be discussing interpretations of the new contract and overtime issues, among other topics.
  • We will be posting for new Shop Stewards in October in line with the new contract cycle.
CEDAR CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • Your Union successfully resolved a bid post grievance at panel involving management placing a new hire in a position which they didn’t post for bid.
  • Your Union has filed a series of demands to bargain including: 
    • The Union contested management’s changes in hours of offsite crews; the Department backed off its position and will not be moving forward with the changes;
    • The Union filed a demand to bargain over increased responsibility for Classification Counselors IIIs.  Management refused to move forward with the changes, and we will not be moving forward with bargaining at this time.  
  • We will be posting for Shop Stewards in October for new contract cycle in line with upcoming negotiations in the Spring.
