On October 16, the community organization Puget Sound Sage hosted its 1st Annual Union Leadership Award Dinner. The event took place in downtown Seattle and brought together labor leaders from all across the region.

At the event, Tracey A. Thompson, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters 117, was recognized for her outstanding leadership on behalf of working families in Washington State.

Tracey has shown time and time again that she will stand up and fight for the rights of all workers. She has taken on corporate giants like Coca-Cola, Waste Management, and United Natural Foods, Inc., as well as huge public entities like the Washington State Department of Corrections.

Tracey was specifically recognized for Teamsters 117’s innovative work in organizing Seattle’s taxicab industry as well as Teamsters 117’s partnership with other unions to bring about fundamental social change.

“Members of Teamsters 117 stand together and fight for what is right. Our members work hard to support their families, and they care about their co-workers and their communities. I strive every day to be the leader they all deserve to have,” Thompson said.

Congratulations, Tracey, and thank you for all you've done to support working families in Washington State!
