Latino Caucus - Teamsters Local 117

Comité Latino is a group of Teamsters Local 117 members committed to improving working conditions for Union members, promoting Latino culture within the Union, achieving fair immigration reform, and identifing educational opportunities for immigrant Union members and their families. 

Some of the group's activities have included:

• strong participation in the annual May Day March and Rally
• trainings on workplace safety
• trainings on immigration reform
• collection of over $1000 for the family of fellow member who died in an industrial accident 
• participation in King County's Latino Health and Safety Fair
• organized a one-day soccer tournament for Local 117 members

El Comité Latino es un grupo de miembros del Local 117 de los Teamsters interesdado en mejorar condiciones laborales para los miembros de la Union, promover la cultura latina, lograr una reforma migratoria justa y identificar oportunidades educativas para miembros inmigrantes y sus familiares.

Algunas de las actividades del Comité incluyen:

• participación fuerte en la marcha del 1 de mayo 2009
• talleres de seguridad en el trabajo
• talleres sobre la reforma migratoria
• participación en la feria de salud y seguridad del Condado King
• colección de mas de $1000 para un compañero que falleció en un accidente industrial
