For Teamsters at DOC, your Union bargaining committee is back in contract negotiations with the State this week, on Wednesday, September 26 and Thursday, September 27 to bargain over your 2013-2015 labor agreement.
Your team is pushing hard to achieve a fully-recommended settlement that will positively impact your ability to do your job and protect the public, but we do not have a settlement at this time.
As you know, we are rapidly approaching the statutory October 1 deadline. If an agreement is not ratified by this deadline, then any negotiated economic improvements will not be included in the budget the Governor submits to the Legislature.
Therefore, if a recommended settlement is reached on September 27, there will be a contract vote opening at 12:01 AM on Friday, September 28 and closing at 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 30.
Voting will be conducted two ways: (1) by telephone or (2) through the internet (see voting instructions). Due to the time constraints, it is not possible to conduct on-site voting and meet the October 1 deadline.
A cover letter and voting instructions were mailed to every member in the bargaining unit this week. If you have not received these documents by Friday, September 28, please contact the Local 117 office at 1-888-872-3489 by close of business on the 28th.
Assuming a tentative agreement is reached, a full copy of the agreement will be available and can be accessed on the Teamsters 117 website (under the DOC News Ticker) at www.teamsters117.org.
If you have any questions during the contract vote, your Business Representative will be available throughout the weekend via cell phone.
The following documents were mailed to all DOC members on Monday, September 24:
