James P. Hoffa, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, has sent a letter to the director of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board advocating for "better reporting and greater transparency" of tax expenditures used for economic development.

Hoffa announced his support for the GASB's Exposure Draft on Tax Abatement Disclosures and is calling for improvements to strengthen the standards with the goal of providing more accurate financial information needed to plan and fund public services and infrastructure projects.
