AIRWAY HEIGHTS CORRECTIONS CENTER
  • The legislature convened special session on April 29.  Budget negotiations are at a standstill.  We need to keep the pressure on.  Call your State Senator at 1-800-562-6000.  Say that the Senate should fund our DOC contract now!
  • We are still reaching out to small businesses in the community to ask for their support. If you know a business in the community that would be willing to support us, contact your Business Representative immediately to request a small business packet.   
  • We will be holding our Quarterly Membership Meeting on May 5 at AHCC at 0630 in C2 Visiting. Please make an effort to attend.
  • On April 28, we had a Step 1 meeting for a grievance related to bid denial.
  • Business Representative Tawny Humbert attended the LERA Conference on April 16-17. She attended classes related to Corrections and Law Enforcement, Behind the Badge, and bargaining.
COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER

  • Due to an audit regarding overtime requested by Business Representative Eydie Dean, we were able to achieve 7 overtime bypass remedies for the month of April. 
  • We will be holding our Quarterly Membership Meeting on May 6 at CRCC at 0630 in MSC Visitation. Please make an effort to attend.
  • On April 20, Business Representative Eydie Dean attended an all-day visitation training along with visitation and public access officers.
 WASHINGTON STATE PENITENTIARY

  • As a part of our small business campaign, we will be ran a full-page color ad in the Union Bulletin on Thursday, April 30 that featured WSP members along with the owners of Smith’s Family Restaurant.  On April 2, we filed a grievance related to overtime issues that affects members in the entire bargaining unit.  We will keep you posted on this issue as we work through the grievance process.
  • The kitchen at WSP will officially convert to CI effective May 1.  Bargaining over the changes in working conditions has been concluded.  If you have questions, talk with your Shop Steward or Business Representative.
  • We will be holding our Quarterly Membership Meeting on May 7 at WSP at 0630 in the West Complex Incident Command Post. Please make an effort to attend.
