We have negotiated an agreement with the DOC involving rest breaks.  The agreement settles the arbitration case brought by your Union on behalf of members whose intermittent rest periods had been denied.  

  • Attachment "A" provides guidance on your rights with regard to breaks.  

If you are unable to take your intermittent rest periods due to work demands, be sure to inform your supervisor. Your supervisor should assist you in identifying options for intermittent rest.  

The rest period issue involving correctional officers on community hospital watch requires further discussion and will be addressed at a statewide Labor-Management Communication Committee.
