We are down to the wire on Paid Sick and Safe Days for workers in the City of Tacoma. The mayor and the city council are clinging to a tepid proposal that would provide only 3 paid sick days for workers annually. If passed into law, the proposal would give Tacoma the weakest Paid Sick Days law in the country.
3 days is not enough for working families. In his State of the Union, President Obama called for 7 days of Paid Sick Leave for workers. At the very least, Tacoma officials should match the president's proposal.
On January 27, the Tacoma City Council will be holding a critical hearing on a Paid Sick and Safe ordinance. This may be the last chance to amend the proposal before it goes to the council for a vote.
Let's flood the council chambers and let Tacoma elected officials know: Three days is not enough!
