12402128_1538867613091390_2442919449956405218_o.jpgOne of our biggest electoral priorities this year is to rebalance our economy in favor of the middle class and expand opportunities for all Washingtonians.

Initiative 1433, which our union has endorsed, would phase in a minimum wage increase to $13.50 by 2020 and provide all Washington workers with access to earned sick and safe leave.

This initiative will lift up 730,000 low-wage workers and add about $2.5 billion to our state’s economy annually.

Teamsters Local 117 is a part of a coalition of labor and community groups that will be gathering signatures to put the initiative on the ballot this November.

The campaign kickoff will be Saturday, March 5 at 8:30 AM at the Washington State Labor Council office in Seattle. We will be going out into the community to talk to voters and collect signatures.

If you’d like to join us or if you want to volunteer, please give me a call at 206-794-2606. Thank you. Together we can raise up Washington!
